LINKS TO ONLINE MUSIC
While we are unable to organise live concerts in our venues across Dorset, Devon and Somerset we are delighted to be able to let you know about performances our musicians are giving online or have given live in the last year or so.
I am sending out an enews every couple of weeks to our list and will create a page each time on this website so that the links are not lost. ONLINE 1, 2 and 3 are already available. Please go to the links above.
It is a very difficult for everyone at the moment but Concerts in the West is focussing on the devastating effects on musicians both financially and emotionally.
The Musicians' Union and Help Musicians are raising funds for musicians and if you would like to help please go to their websites to find out more.
ENEWS - 17 MARCH 2020
Like so many other arts organisations we are having to cancel concerts in April and May due to the Coronavirus. This is the first time in 14 years that a tour has been cancelled and it is very sad for all concerned.
The government has made it clear that gatherings should cease for the time being and that we should all avoid proximity to others as much as possible.
Stephen Upshaw, Eloisa-Fleur Thom and Sam Armstrong were to be with us in April and I hope that we can rebook them for 2021/22. Likewise Trio Klein - Kamila Bydlowska, Shiry Rashkovsky and Riccardo Pes - who were due to come in May.
This is a frightening time for all musicians, many of whom have faced a very difficult week of cancelled work and a crippling loss of income over the coming weeks and months. We will be offering them some compensation and if you feel you can help please donate via our website.
At the moment we are not cancelling the tours in June and onwards, but we will review this as the weeks go by. I will send out an email with an update when appropriate.
In the meantime we will work on planning the 2021/22 series and hope that our wonderful musicians can come and play for us again.
We really appreciate your loyalty and look forward to welcoming you to our concerts once more.
